South Australia's Strategic Plan

I'm delighted to see the plan's emphasis on maths and science in schools, and commend its strong focus on education and knowledge. This is crucial for South Australia to be a competitive economy and a community that offers opportunity to all. Also, this updated plan puts a strong stake in the ground for South Australia as a place to come for leading-edge research and innovation.

Regions

As of September 2009, regional plans have been developed  for the five country regions (Eyre and Western, Yorke and Mid North, Far North, Murray and Mallee, Limestone Coast) and the three greater Adelaide regions (Barossa, Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island).  These plans incorporate regional expressions of targets and include data for each region.

These regions use the standard definitions and regional boundaries adopted by the South Australian Government (for definitions and maps, please refer to the Department of Planning and Local Government website).

At the sub-regional level, this discussion paper includes examples of local-level data (at the Local Council and SLA levels).  Here is a sample of graphs produced by the new EasyData website.  The ABS website also includes Community Profiles from the 2006 Census (and earlier).

For more information, please refer to the Office of Regional Affairs, Department of Trade and Economic Development, and the EasyData website (to search easily for the most up to date data for each region).
