I'm delighted to see the plan's emphasis on maths and science in schools, and commend its strong focus on education and knowledge. This is crucial for South Australia to be a competitive economy and a community that offers opportunity to all. Also, this updated plan puts a strong stake in the ground for South Australia as a place to come for leading-edge research and innovation.

Household Survey

A survey of 6,000 South Australian households has been conducted to collect information a number of targets in the Plan. The large sample size allows data to be disaggregated for each of the 12 regions. Data from the survey have been incorporated into the relevant target fact sheets and in regional plans and presentations.

The following targets were included in the May 2008 survey:

T1.7 Customer satisfaction with government services
T4.3 Cultural engagement: institutions
T4.4 Cultural engagement: arts activities
T4.8 Broadband usage
T5.6 Volunteering
T5.8 Multiculturalism
